"i sweat under the gaze of neon light, my children entering the ring to fight. a TKO from jerry brace's pen. it's deja motherfucking vu again."

Brad Roberts commented on C Bass' lyric:

"Of deja vu I cannot say a word, It's like an echo of a song unheard, It teases, tantalizes, is sublime, It comes without a reason or a rhyme Hamish Clark This clocks in as perfect iambic pentameter. It is also very smart writing: the description right on the money. And I like the way it begins by telling us that there are no words for the feeling of 'déjà-vous,' and then proceeds to give us very precise words about exactly how it feels. Far from being an internal contradiction, however, this instead feels wonderfully paradoxical. Fantastic work."

Back at home, Bunny called out Rudolf's name / Then baring his teeth, went straight for a vein / Long story short, he was back on his feet / All Santa needed was a little red meat!
You're a tough nut, thought bunny, sizing him up / Then it hit him - maybe Santa just needs a checkup! / He examined the fat man with ruthless efficiency / then pawed in his notebook 'iron deficiency?'
Let me guess, you're showing what was, is and will be / As if the cure were to make me feel guilty! / I've read "A Christmas Carol" - I know the score / And it won't work, so just drop me back at my door!
The first stop was childhood, Santa's, in fact / Dad was home early because he'd been sacked / Young Santa set out, through the snow and gloom / and returned with a fir tree for the living room
"Hey weren't you a gift for that crazy kid Darko? "/ Bunny grinned, hit full throttle and left a skid mark-o
"Yes I'm you, well it's me, look you know what I mean / There's no time to explain - just hop in the machine!" / What was Santa to do - not believe in himself? / So he clambered in, passing his glass to an elf!
the blue skies and cornfields, as he set forth / with just a red sack and voice calling 'north' / the reindeer that followed him right through the snow / the knock at his door from a voice down below
they toured santa's childhood, his formative years / the seeds and good deeds that grew his christmas cheer / the heartbreaking sight of a family rift / the glimmer of hope contained in a gift
c'mon, said young santa, it's your chance for salvation! / now watch while Bugs gives the safety demonstration / with a bang, flash of light and a puff of smoke / in his crib, as a child, startled santa awoke
it's simple, the bunny said, strapping him in / we're healing the jolly old man within / hell you are! santa cried as he reached for the door / but he stopped when he saw that the floor was no more
but it isn't for long; he pulls out a knife/ then hands the now dead gift back to his wife
For just a split second he smiled at the gift, Then, grabbing the drone, shouted ‘paradigm shift!’
Then suddenly on the curb right in front of his home / Sat a shiny red parcel delivered by drone
But one frozen morning, hungover, he woke / PEERED out and ASKED is this SOME kind of JOKE?
One hand in my pocket, the other on the bar. She stood right next to me, her eyes were far, far away

i woke up in a stranger's bed today, thrust upon a stage without a script. but cool heads and cold hearts cannot allay the feeling that time's fabric has been ripped.
before i reach the good stuff it slams shut, and all i'm left with is a paper cut
His ashen face imprinting memories past, as sand fell up inside the hourglass
this path, that moon, a doorway dimly lit. before i knocked i knew they'd answer it.
she cried and said we weren't worth fighting for. i smiled because i'd heard her words before.
some withered flowers left beside the road. Above, a road sign waiting to corrode.
i sweat under the gaze of neon light, my children entering the ring to fight. a TKO from jerry brace's pen. it's deja motherfucking vu again.

when we recall, a light is lit inside, triggered by our thoughts or things we've spied. but triggers sometimes go off on their own - the light is on but there is no one home
of deja vu i cannot say a word, it's like an echo of a song unheard, it teases, tantalises, it's sublime, it comes without a reason or a rhyme
We cast a spell of ones and zeroes, cast out leaders, welcomed heroes.
It's time for this ol' phylum to find a new asylum
The training wheels fell off, we floored it down the straight, the hairpin was a cliff, by then it was too late.
The tide of excess washed our feet. Without higher ground there was no retreat.
Supple nature yielded to the will of mankind. Reserves of potential are all that's left unmined.
But nature would not sit silent on our shelves. All we did to her, we did to ourselves.
The universe is a hologram but there ain't no filter for cosmic spam
Take a giant leap away from mankind, leave those satellites and falling stars behind
We dug up ore and gorged our tummies. We're flying to you as crash test dummies.
This is kind of awkward. Let's see... What do you do? Do you eat sunlight and base yourself on carbon too?
Was that the front door? I think I heard a knock. It's a little late for guests at the Sun's 3rd rock.
Welcome to our party! You're fashionably late. We're outta snacks and booze so I hope you brought a plate.
The earth used to be flat but from here it looks round. Some thought we were alone, now all have been found.
We've come a long way, and so have you. So take a load off on our dot, pale and blue.
Our eyes were made for water, but with a little glass, we've seen what we're made of, we've looked into the past.
Now we've a new canvas, we paint upon waves, of sound and sight - air and light, and send them into space
we gaze up to the stars, it borders on compulsion, we landed on the moon, using jet propulsion
we used to think we lived, at the universe's centre, we're often finding meaning, in more places than we're meant to
'is anybody out there?' / i've always asked myself / i hate to say, but now we've met, / is there anybody else?
it's great to finally meet / can you help settle a bet? / is it true that you've been probing us / then making us forget?
a second before midnight / we burst onto the scene / stood on our own two feet and / begat the anthropocene
