I noticed you ask lots of questions to help clarify a thought and/or feeling for the characters in the song. I found it very helpful. I remember Beth Nielsen Chapman using this technique as well and it also caught my attention. Is this a technique commonly used in songwriting or for story writers in general? Are there other similar techniques that really help to get to the heart of what one is trying to express when creating a song..?
