    Nashville Music Guide called Tod Hughes “a storyteller, a sage, a word man. He’s a magical bard… Roots music at it’s best.”  Tod is one of the original Hookist songwriters who writes music clearly from the heart. Songs about love, hurt, happiness, fear, disappointment and fun. Tod’s lyrics have been universally praised by all of our featured artists and his new LP, “Time Slow Down,” is being lauded across North America with some incredible press!

    “Time Slow Down” features a song of the same name which may feel familiar to Tod’s Hookist followers, as it includes a number of individual lyrics he wrote for different Hookist collaborations which he crafted into this gorgeous song!

    No time to pack, no time to run
    Face the music / here we come
    Move your feet and tear your clothes
    Open your heart and open your soul

    Thunder rolls across the floor
    Love is dancing right out the door

Secondly, it makes you write something that may not be where you would naturally go, so it stretches you. Third, you get feedback from successful artists who are engaged in your work. Fourth, you meet others poets, songwriters and just music lovers who want to participate in the process. And lastly, it is just plain fun! All you do is follow along, think of two or three lines you think will work, and join in the fun. Too easy. I have enjoyed being part of the Hookist community tremendously.
